Terms and Conditions of Service

What you agree to with us when you book a tour or the shuttle service.

1. Who provides the service

This English version is a translation provided for convenience; if there is any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails. Golfo Travel provides boat tours on the Gulf of Fonseca and the shuttle service between El Salvador and Nicaragua: the sea leg, on our boats, and the ground transfer, with authorized carriers that we coordinate. Legs provided by third parties: before your trip, we inform you via WhatsApp who provides your ground transfer. Each carrier is liable for its own leg, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer.

2. Provider details

Golfo Travel, trade name of Heydi Carolina Robles Montiel, an individual (sole proprietor) · across from the Migration Office, La Unión, El Salvador · reservas@golfotravels.com · WhatsApp +503 7878 8279.

3. How your booking is concluded

Bookings are made online at our booking page or via WhatsApp at +503 7878 8279, stating the date, time and number of people. Seats are per person and subject to the capacity of each boat. The tour to Zacatillo Island and shuttle service departures on Tuesdays are confirmed manually via WhatsApp; all other departures are confirmed upon booking. You will receive the confirmation with the date, time, meeting or pick-up point, price and the link to these terms and to the Privacy Policy (this is your copy of the contract). Meanguera, Conchagüita, artisanal fishing and private charter are quoted and confirmed via WhatsApp.

4. Prices, payment and costs not included

Prices are in US dollars (USD), per person, except for the Zacatillo Island group rate stated on the tour page. The published price includes taxes. Payment must be made in cash before boarding the boat. We do not accept online, card or bank transfer payments, and no one from Golfo Travel will ask you to pay by those means. By legal requirement, every payment must be made solely by the holder of the payment method. Not included: Nicaraguan and Salvadoran border fees (paid in cash to the authorities), meals unless otherwise stated, and extra luggage on the shuttle service: included are 1 backpack or suitcase + 1 carry-on bag; surfboard $15, bicycle $10, additional suitcase $10.

5. Your right of withdrawal (Ley de Protección al Consumidor [LPC, Consumer Protection Law], Art. 13-A)

If you booked remotely (website, WhatsApp or email), you may rescind your booking without giving any reason and without penalty within the 8 days following the booking, provided that the service has not begun. The service begins: (a) for departures from El Salvador, when you board the vehicle that takes you to the La Unión Migration Office or, if you are already in La Unión, when you report to that office and give your name so that we can verify your booking; (b) for departures from Nicaragua, when you board the vehicle that takes you to the Migration Office; (c) for the tour to Zacatillo Island, when you report to the La Unión Migration Office and we verify your booking. A message through the same channel you used to book is sufficient. Since payment is made in cash before boarding the boat, withdrawing does not result in any charge to you.

6. Changes and cancellations

(a) You may cancel or change the date at no cost using your booking link up to 96 hours before departure; after that, message us on WhatsApp or by email. Date changes are subject to availability. (b) Since payment is made in cash before boarding the boat, canceling does not result in any charge to you. If you do not show up, the departure is deemed forfeited. (c) If we suspend or change a departure due to force majeure or fortuitous event (weather, sea conditions, or an order or decision of any governmental authority), we will notify you and you may choose between rescheduling at no cost or canceling your booking, without any other compensation. (d) Schedules are estimates. Delays due to causes beyond Golfo Travel's control (weather, sea, traffic, immigration procedures) do not constitute a breach. We are not liable for flights, accommodation or connections that you miss for those reasons: allow a margin of at least 4 hours. (e) If you booked remotely, point 5 applies for as long as your right of withdrawal lasts. (f) Refunds: if you have already paid and the departure is not provided, in whole or in part, due to force majeure, fortuitous event or a cause attributable to Golfo Travel, we refund the amount paid for the part not provided. If it is not provided due to a cause attributable to you (incomplete documents, immigration inadmissibility or conduct that prevents boarding), we refund the part not provided minus the demonstrable costs that we have already paid on your behalf (LPC Art. 17 i).

7. Punctuality and no-show

You must be at the meeting or pick-up point at the time stated in your confirmation (La Unión Migration Office at 7:00 am bound for Nicaragua; central point in León at 7:00 am bound for El Salvador; pick-ups in San Salvador, La Libertad and El Cuco according to the route). Ground transportation waits 10 minutes at the pick-up point and the boat departs at the published time; if you do not show up, the departure is deemed forfeited and point 6 (b) applies. We will try to contact you at the phone number on your booking.

8. Immigration requirements and documents

Each traveler is responsible for meeting the exit and entry requirements of El Salvador and Nicaragua: valid passport, copies, CA-4 visa or Nicaraguan visa depending on nationality, Nicaragua's online immigration pre-check and border fees. We share general information about the requirements with you, but verifying and meeting them is your responsibility. By law we must verify your documents before boarding, and we will not be able to board you if they are incomplete. If an authority denies you exit or entry, the leg already completed is deemed provided and the remainder is treated as a cancellation for a cause attributable to the traveler (points 6 b and 6 f). If an authority denies you entry into a country for failing to meet its requirements, the costs of stay and return that the law places on the carrier and that Golfo Travel has to pay for that reason shall be borne by you, in the amount proven.

9. Minors

Minors always travel with a responsible adult who books for them. A minor under 18 years of age traveling alone, with only one parent or with a third party must present, in addition to a valid passport, the authorization to leave the country required by the immigration authority of the country of departure: when leaving El Salvador, the notarized authorization required by the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería (DGME, General Directorate of Migration); when leaving Nicaragua, the one required by the Nicaraguan immigration authority. Without it, the minor will not be able to board and point 7 applies. Children travel with a life jacket suited to their size and always under the direct supervision of their responsible adult, who is responsible for their care throughout the trip. If minors are traveling on your booking, we will contact you before the trip to confirm their age, their exit documents and that we have a life jacket in their size. If there is no suitable one, we will notify you so that you can change the date or cancel the booking (point 6).

10. Safety, navigation risks and conduct

Traveling by boat on the open sea involves risks inherent to the activity, the sea, the weather and navigation, which cannot always be foreseen or avoided (for example: waves, changes in tide or weather, sudden movements of the boat, bumps, falls, splashes and seasickness). By booking, you declare that you are aware of them. To reduce them, the boats have a roof, seats and safety equipment, and before departure the crew gives the safety briefing. The life jacket throughout the entire voyage and water shoes for boarding are mandatory; you must remain seated while the boat is underway and always follow the instructions of the captain and the crew, and consuming alcohol on board is not permitted. The captain or the governmental maritime or immigration authorities may delay, divert or suspend the departure for safety reasons or by decision of the authority (point 6 c applies). We may refuse boarding or service to anyone who is under the influence of alcohol or other substances, does not follow the safety instructions or puts others at risk (point 6 f applies). If you have reduced mobility, are pregnant or have a health condition, inform the crew directly before boarding; for your privacy, we do not record health data. Deciding whether you can travel is your responsibility, at your own discretion.

11. Luggage and belongings

Includes 1 backpack or suitcase and 1 carry-on bag (excess items: point 4). Your luggage must be labeled with your name and phone number. On the boat there will be splashes and humidity inherent to the sea: protect your luggage and your belongings in waterproof bags and wear clothes that can get wet. Valuables (money, documents, phones, cameras, computers, jewelry and medicines) always travel with you and under your care. We are liable for luggage that you hand over to our custody in accordance with the law. We are not liable for damage caused by force majeure, by the condition or nature of the item itself, by humidity or splashes inherent to navigation when the luggage was not protected, or for items that remain under your care. So that we can handle a claim promptly, report it to the crew before leaving the place of arrival or the vehicle. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance covering luggage, health and cancellation.

12. Photos, videos and reviews

During the trip, the crew may take photos and videos. Shots in which you appear in a recognizable way and your review with your name and country are published only if you authorized us to do so when booking; if you did not authorize it, we do not publish them and we delete them within 30 days after the trip. We do not publish photos or videos in which a minor is recognizable. You may withdraw your authorization at any time (Privacy Policy, sections 4 and 9).

13. Customer service, complaints and authority

We handle inquiries and complaints via WhatsApp at +503 7878 8279 or by email at golfotraveltours@gmail.com, in Spanish or English. We confirm through the same channel that we have received your complaint, with the date of receipt: that message is your proof of receipt. We invite you to write to us first so that we can resolve it directly; you may also go to the Defensoría del Consumidor (Consumer Protection Agency), which offers voluntary mediation and conciliation, and to the competent courts of El Salvador. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of El Salvador and do not bind you to any alternative dispute resolution mechanism. Actions arising from the contract of carriage become time-barred within the period established by law. The Spanish version prevails over any translation.

14. Changes to these terms

We will publish each version with its date and will announce relevant changes through our channels. Each booking is governed by the terms in force at the time of booking, which are linked in your confirmation.

15. Electronic acceptance and copy of the contract

By confirming your booking online or via WhatsApp, you accept these terms by electronic means. With the confirmation you receive the link to this version, which we keep with the date of your booking (LPC Art. 22). Your personal data is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy, which you accept together with these terms when booking. To manage your booking, we use providers that host the information outside El Salvador (Privacy Policy, sections 6 and 7).

Version 2.4 · October 12, 2026 · Golfo Travel, La Unión, El Salvador. Any change will be published on this same page with its date.
